A man has died and a woman has been left seriously injured following a fire at flats in Leeds.
Officers were called by fire crews to the maisonette, on Hardrow Road, at about 09:35 GMT, where both people had been found with serious injuries, according to West Yorkshire Police.
The man, in his 60s, who lived in a lower flat, later died as a result of his injuries, while the woman, 68, who lived in an upper flat, was taken to hospital where she remained in a serious but stable condition, a force spokesperson said.
Det Insp Dan Ridgeway said investigations into the cause of the fire had been launched, adding that it was a “very serious and tragic incident”.
