A man has died following a two vehicle road crash in the Coleraine area.

The crash took place on the Windyhill Road, between Limavady and Coleraine, on Thursday 20 November.

Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report shortly after 9.45am, on Thursday morning, of a collision involving a lorry and a white Peugeot Partner van.

“Our officers attended, along with our colleagues from partner emergency services. Sadly, however, the driver of the van, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“Collision Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this collision.

“We are particularly keen to hear from persons who witnessed the collision or captured dash-cam footage which may assist with our enquiries.

The Windyhill Road has now reopened after being closed earlier today.

NIAS tasked two emergency ambulances and the charity air ambulance with HEMS on board to the scene, a spokesperson said this morning.
