You may have heard by now that two games have been shadow dropped onto Xbox Game Pass following today’s Xbox Partner Preview showcase, and one of those is the survival horror title Total Chaos.

The surprise nature of this reveal means there are barely any impressions for the game thus far, but we have come across the first official review for Total Chaos that’s been submitted by ScreenRant.

Their review mentions that they’ve played 20 hours of Total Chaos thanks to a PC code that was provided by the PR team, and overall they’re pretty impressed with the game, giving it a 8/10 score altogether.

Here’s a bit of the conclusion:

“More than anything, I vibed with Total Chaos’ creative dungeon-crawling routine, its secrets and scares, its weird developments and frantic encounters, and I even enjoyed tangling with my overweight inventory. There are settings to untick everything from hunger to weapon durability, but I played through the game on standard and found its systems generous and satisfyingly manageable. In the end, Total Chaos purely nails this sad survival horror sweet spot that I didn’t even realize I was jonesing for.”

It sounds like it’s worth playing, then! The pros mention how it’s a “nightmarish survival horror FPS that hits that sweet spot between oppressive and accessible” complete with great weapon variety, sound and a lengthy adventure, while the cons talk about getting lost in its larger chapters, its narrative leveraging some “oft-used horror game tropes” and the lack of a New Game+ mode at release.

Many more reviews will be following in the hours to come, but it’s nice to get an idea of how it’s shaping up in the meantime – and now we’re even more intrigued to go and check it out on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate / PC Game Pass!
