A number of London’s transport lines will be part-shut this weekend (November 22 -23), affecting passengers capital-wide. Network Rail and Transport for London have scheduled maintenance and engineering work across the Overground, DLR and Elizabeth line.
This will primarily impact people in East London, with platforms shuttering in Havering, Tower Hamlets and Newham. Holidaymakers will also find it harder to reach London City Airport amid signal testing restrictions – find out more below.
There are still plenty of ways to get where you need to be, including rail replacement buses in some areas. But, it’s still frustrating to be caught out so we’ve broken down the scheduled closures for Saturday and Sunday:
London Overground closures

Sunday, November 23
No service between Romford and Upminster due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Passengers are encouraged to use local bus routes.
Mildmay line
Saturday, November 22 – Sunday, November 23
No service between Gospel Oak and Richmond/Shepherd’s Bush due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Passengers are encouraged to use Tube services, or local/replacement bus services.
DLR closures
The DLR will be suspended in East London yet again(Image: TfL)
Saturday, November 22
No service between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal due to signal testing and third party works.
Passengers are encouraged to use Jubilee line and Elizabeth line services. Rail replacement buses will run between Canning Town, London City Airport and King George V.
Saturday, November 22
No service between Poplar and Beckton due to signal testing and third party works.
Passengers are encouraged to use local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Canary Wharf and Gallions Reach via Beckton.
Saturday, November 22 – Sunday, November 23
No service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell signal testing and third party works.
Passengers are encouraged to use Tube or Windrush line services, or local bus routes.
Elizabeth line closures

Sunday, November 23
No service between Liverpool Street (national rail platforms)/Whitechapel and Shenfield due to track work.
Passengers are encouraged to use Tube, Mildmay line or DLR services, or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will also be available.
