Former Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has definitely addressed speculation over his future in a remarkable press conference in Uruguay.
Despite leading Uruguay to a third-place finish in Copa America and World Cup qualification, Marcelo Bielsa has faced questions over his future.
A heavy defeat to Brenden Aaronson’s USA side appeared to bring those tensions to a head, as the former Leeds boss called a surprise press conference.
With Daniel Farke under pressure at Elland Road, this prompted frantic speculation from Leeds fans that the stars could align for a dramatic return for the legendary former manager.
However, Bielsa instead launched a dramatic defence of his record as Uruguay manager, stating that he retains as much passion for the role as when he first took on the job.

Bielsa said: “[I have] the same determination as on day one to continue with the national team until the World Cup,” Bielsa said, “If at any point I considered whether I should continue, it wasn’t at this moment.”
Asked if he had ever been asked to leave the role by the Uruguayan federation, Bielsa added: “From the conversation. I spoke for many hours with the president and with Jorge.
“The conclusion of the conversation is that the project continues exactly as planned until the World Cup.
“That is the summary and final conclusion of the conversation with the president. Therefore, I am passing on that information; that is how the conversation ended.”
