Scott Robertson took issue with a reporter’s question in his pre-match press conference ahead of the All Blacks’ clash with Wales on Saturday.

New Zealand take on Steve Tandy’s men knowing that their Grand Slam hopes are already over following their 33-19 defeat to England.

Plenty of criticism has come their way after their third loss of the year, with Robertson himself under fire having overseen yet another disappointing result.

Pressure increasing on Razor

The pressure is unsurprisingly increasing on the head coach, as well as the All Blacks squad, but the 51-year-old did not seem to like her referencing it.

She asked: “What have you been talking to the team about in terms of there being so much pressure on this team and trying to lift spirts…” before Robertson then interrupted the journalist.

“You’re really talking this up, you’re quite dramatic aren’t you?” he said.

New Zealand’s head coach did then answer the question but it was still rather abrupt.

“We focus on what we could have done better last week and then get on with it. There’s some really good stuff in there, so you look at that,” he added.

All Blacks team: Five takeaways as axe-wielding Scott Robertson offers opportunities to young and old in final Test of the year against Wales

While it has not been a disastrous year for the All Blacks, there has been plenty of disappointments after they failed to regain the Rugby Championship title.

New Zealand lost to Argentina for the first time in South America before they suffered a record defeat at the hands of the Springboks.

Missing out on the Grand Slam

After missing out on the big southern hemisphere title, extra expectation was placed on them to win the Grand Slam on their end-of-year tour.

It began well enough with victories over Ireland and Scotland, but their inability to perform consistently well throughout the 80 minutes cost them against England last weekend.

Steve Borthwick’s men proved too strong for them as a result, leading to another inquest back home in New Zealand as to what is currently going wrong.

“Parts of that Irish game, parts of the Scottish game, probably in all games we’ve had patches but, to be frank with you, the consistency of it,” Robertson said.

“The ability to wrestle all momentum back is a big one for us. Test footy is the tightest it’s ever been and you’re not going to win all of them.

“You’re going to have moments that don’t go your way but getting it back is the key for us. All sides have got their strengths and the ability to make sure that you keep your game flowing and get your rhythm back is really critical for us, so that’s been a focus.”
