The Order of the Golden Fleece is one of the oldest, most prestigious, and highest orders of chivalry in Europe, and is the highest distinction awarded by the King of Spain.

The ceremony is the formal act where the sovereign bestows the insignia of the Order, a beautiful gold collar featuring firesteels and the golden ram’s fleece, upon a new member.

The ceremony on 21 November saw Queen Sofia be given the Order for “her dedication and devotion to the service of Spain and the Crown”.
