Leeds’ 2025 Christmas Market is finally openI visited Leeds Christmas Market 2025I visited Leeds Christmas Market 2025

Leeds’ Christmas Market is back this year, with stalls and stores set up across the city centre.

The Christmas Market in Leeds has always been a much-loved feature of the city’s calendar, with people turning out in their hundreds to celebrate the festive season. While the market was cancelled from 2019-2022, it made its triumphant return in 2023, and has run every year since.

You can expect everything from crafts to rides to food at the market this year, as well as plenty of Christmas cheer and decoration.

This year, the market is similar to 2024, which means if you enjoyed it that year, you’ll probably enjoy it again. There are two main sites for the market, City Square, and Millennium Square.

City Square hosts the majority of the food stalls along with a number of craft stalls, while Millennium Square holds a majority of the rides and attractions, although you can still find food there. When I headed along on Friday morning (November 21) the Millennium Square site wasn’t fully open, and so the City Square site saw the majority of the early traffic on opening day.

There, you can find all sorts of food, from Portuguese cuisine, to French food, to Chinese dishes, and, of course, the famous German bratwursts. In addition, there was mulled wine and beer on sale at a few bar sites there.

Travel between the two squares is also easy, as there are rides and stalls to stop off at along the way. You can even take a trip on the Leeds Wheel of Light in Victoria Gardens if you fancy an eagle-eyed view of the city.

Other businesses have also put up their own decorations in the city, particularly in the form of lights, meaning there is a good festive atmosphere in the city centre. In fact, this is perhaps the best thing about the market.

Even if you are visiting the city for business, or for other reasons and have no time to spend in the market itself, the atmosphere it helps generate does a lot to help you feel more festive. From the Christmas music to the sparkling lights, there’s a lot to look at even when you’re just going about your business.

People are also making good use of the market, with decent sized crowds walking around and enjoying the stalls, especially for a Friday morning.

If you do expect to visit the market yourself, then the food is a highlight, as there is a great variety of different foods and drinks on offer, and there is plenty for people of all ages to enjoy.
