A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a cyclist was killed in a crash in south-east London, the Met Police has said.

Officers were called to Old Kent Road at about 06:55 GMT on Friday after a car collided with the cyclist near the junction with Dunton Road.

The 34-year-old male cyclist, who was treated by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, died at the scene.

A 68-year-old man, who was driving the car, failed to stop at the scene but was traced a short while later and arrested, the Met said. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
