A Kent woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was shot near a shopping centre in the Midlands.

Kirstie Gavin, 32, from Gillingham, is among five suspects being held in custody following the shooting in the Sutton Coldfield area, near Birmingham.

The incident is said to have taken place near the Lanes Shopping Centre in Wylde Green at around 7.30am on October 24.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-threatening.

West Midlands police launched an investigation and has since arrested and charged five people.

Gavin, of James Street, Gillingham, was was charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.

Adrian Hylton, 43, of Godstone Road, St. Margarets, London was was also charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to murder, as well as robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Dwaine Patterson, 46, of Wharfside Street, Birmingham, was charged with conspiracy to murder.

Terrence Regis, 43, of Erith Road, Belvedere, London, was charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

And Carly Smith, 36, of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy to murder.

They appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody ahead of a Birmingham Crown Court hearing next month.
