Blood was seen splattered on the ground outside a shop in the Manchester Arndale centre after an assault was reported.

Police were called to the incident during Sunday afternoon (November 23), with shopping centre staff also rushing to the scene and blocking off an area near to the Hollister store, on the upper level.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed one person received minor injures following reports of an altercation which erupted in front of shoppers.

A spokesperson said: “We received reports of an altercation which we responded to. There have been no arrests, one man received minor injuries.”

A witness told the Manchester Evening News there were officers ‘all over the Arndale’ and that they had been informed the incident had originally been reported near to the Nike store.

“The Arndale cleaners were cleaning up the blood. Am not sure who’s been hurt,” they said. “I did see handful of GMP [officers] plus Arndale guards running towards Aldi from the incident.”

Pictures showed splatters of blood on the ground following the altercation, with barriers used to block off part of the walkway beside the entrance to the Hollister store on Sunday afternoon.

No further details have been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
