Family and friends are rallying round after a much-loved doorman known as ‘Viking’ tragically died on the second day of his honeymoon. ‘Gentle giant’ Stewart Gordon was well-known to clubbers in Sheffield from his security job at The Leadmill club.
Friends and family have been left devastated by his sudden death aged 50 while on honeymoon to Iceland with wife Abi on October 28. Well-wishers are now rallying round to pay for his funeral costs, with more than 160 people donating more than £4,000 to GoFundMe appeal.
Many people have posted tributes on social media. They described Stewart, of Sheffield, as a “lovely bloke” who had a “heart of gold”. One described him as a “legend” and a “gentle giant”.
In a post on Go Fund Me, the organiser said: “Stewart Gordon, lovingly known to so many as “Viking”, sadly passed away while on his honeymoon at the age of 50. Those who knew Stewart will remember his huge heart, his sense of humour, and the way he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.
“This fundraiser has been created to help support his family during this heartbreaking time to ease the financial burden and to give him the send-off he truly deserves. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and is deeply appreciated by all who loved him. Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us honour the memory of our Viking.”
