The achievement reflects both his technical skill and his determination to succeed despite challenging personal circumstances.

In recognition of his award, Ben said: “I’m extremely honoured to receive this award after the hard work that went into completing my HND.

“Over the past two years, I’ve developed a real passion for electrical engineering, and I’m excited to see where it leads.

“This passion wouldn’t have been possible without the lecturers who genuinely cared about our learning and created an environment I truly enjoyed being part of.

“I’m deeply grateful to my mum and my family for their constant support, especially through difficult times.

“And lastly, I want to thank my dad, who, even through his illness, always put me first and encouraged me to work towards my future.

“RIP Dad — Ian ‘Wulsy’ Wilson.”
