An iconic 80s band have announced the location for their first outdoor summer show next year – and it’ll be held near Greater Manchester.
The Human League, who are behind a number of hits including Don’t You Want Me, (Keep Feeling) Fascination, and Mirror Man, have sold more than 20 million records worldwide. Originating from Sheffield, the band were influential in the MTV era for their techno-pop sound.
Originally a four-piece when the band was founded in 1977, the group now consists of Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall, and Susan Ann Sulley – who have all been in The Human League alongside each other since 1980. The band have won a BRIT Award, and have also been nominated at the Grammy’s and Ivor Novello Awards.
The music legends have now unveiled plans to play at Victoria Park, in Warrington, next May where they will play some of their biggest hits as well as a number of surprises. The band will be supported by very special guests ABC. The fellow Sheffield-based group, including Stockport-raised singer Martin Fry, are known in their own right for songs like The Look of Love and Poison Arrow.

The show on May 22, 2026 will be The Human League’s the first outdoor summer performance of the year, with both acts also set to play the Sounds of the City festival at the iconic Millennium Square in Leeds on July 10. Tickets for the Warrington show will go on sale this Friday (November 28) via Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours.
A press release for the band said they have become a ‘landmark in the British music scene, with their unapologetically radical song-writing and innovative music and style, which influenced fashion, sound and club culture in Europe, the UK, the US and beyond’.
The Human League last performed in Manchester with a show at the AO Arena in December 2024. A review of the performance said their ‘songs are delivered with a real edge and stunning visual backdrops’, with the crowd being given no choice but to ‘go along with the gloriousness of it all’.
