Community gathers in Southfield to honor 17-year-old London Thomas, as family demands answers

  • 29 April 2025

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Family and friends gathered to remember 17-year-old London Thomas, who was found dead in Southfield.

Thomas’s light may have been knocked out, but spiritually, that light remains—clearly seen by every candle lit during this gathering held in her memory.

“Just a lovely young girl. Getting ready to graduate and something like this happens,” said London’s grandmother, Jestina Martin.

The grief of Thomas’s death emotionally crippling for the many people remember how smart she was.

“I wanna remember her as my little baby girl, and I want everyone to remember when she was around,” Martin said.

Many of them are now wearing shirts with the phrase “Justice for London” as they continue to hope that those responsible will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“Whoever done this, they need to pay for what they done. She didn’t deserve that,” Martin said.

Until justice is reached, however, this family won’t stop fighting to show that Thomas’s life mattered.

“What happened to her should have never happened,” said Thomas’s other aunt, Katherine Moon.

“We’re a tight-knit family. Every day we’ve been together and we’re gonna try to stay together even after this,” Martin said.

We’re still waiting to determine who the two people arrested are and what their connection to this entire investigation is.
