The brownfield plot, which was formerly home to the Daily Record and Sunday Mail HQ, is earmarked for a 29-storey landmark student rooms tower of 550 bedrooms and a rooftop terrace.

A second 10-storey student building adds another 280 rooms with a 13-storey co-living block of 300 studios above ground-floor retail.

Ian Harrison, Projects Director at Downing, said that the designs pay homage to Anderston’s heritage, using red brick to nod to the area’s industrial and textile past and white brick to reference the old Daily Record building.

Downing is targeting BREEAM Excellent with heat pumps, PV panels and high-performance façades cutting energy demand.
