With Daniel Farke under intense pressure, the 49ers are likely to be considering their options and at the very least, putting together a contingency plan in case they do have to sack the Leeds United boss.

A fifth defeat in six has seen fans become restless with the German gaffer. There were chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” at full-time on Sunday, as Leeds suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Villa.

Should Leeds sack Daniel Farke?

Fans had sympathy for Farke after a difficult summer in which Leeds spent as much as they could but failed to bring in adequate attacking options. But it is Farke’s in-game decisions now costing Leeds.

Against Forest and Villa, Farke has been reactive instead of proactive and it has cost his side the chance to win points. The 49ers will have to scour the market for options, but one could become Indonesia gaffer.

Leeds approached three managers during the summer

It is not the first time Paraag Marathe and his team will have to consider Farke’s future. They did in the summer, but opted to stick with him. Three managers were approached early on, after promotion.

Reports say Carlo’s son Davide Ancelotti, Roger Schmidt and Giovanni van Bronckhorst were all subject to an approach from Leeds to discuss their availability. Ancelotti has since become manager of Botafogo.

What Daniel Farke and the pundits said about his future as Leeds manager after Aston Villa loss:

Jamie Carragher: “The longer this run continues for Leeds, you would fear for the manager.”

Aidy White: “For me, replacing the manager, I’m not sure it’s definitely the right thing to do now, given the games we have coming up.

Daniel Farke: “Believe me, in terms of pressure, the first day you walk in the door as Leeds United manager, you have pressure.”

Schmidt is working as a J-League advisor, while van Bronckhorst is on Arne Slot’s Liverpool coaching staff at Anfield. However, van Bronckhorst has managed big clubs and a new role was always expected.

Feyenoord, Rangers and Besiktas are all clubs managed by the former Arsenal and Barcelona star and now, it appears van Bronckhorst could be set for his next role, as the manager of Indonesia.

Indonesia recently had Patrick Kluivert as manager, with Dutchman Jordi Cruyff a technical advisor. According to Pete O’Rourke, van Bronckhorst is now on a list of contenders for the Indonesia job.

O’Rourke posted on his X channel: “Liverpool assistant coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst is under consideration for the Indonesia manager vacancy.”

Which managers have been linked since Daniel Farke pressure?

While a move for van Bronckhorst, Ancelotti or Schmidt seems unlikely, plenty of other managers have been touted for the role since Farke’s position as manager came under pressure, after the Forest loss.

Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers are the two obvious ones, given they are out of work at the moment. The likes of Bo Svensson, Steven Gerrard and Marco Rose have also been touted with the job.

LeedsUnited.News have suggested former Juventus coach Thiago Motta, who is a known disciple of Marcelo Bielsa. Even Bielsa is expected to be on the radar of Premier League clubs after the World Cup.

As things stand, LeedsUnited.News understands that Farke will retain his place for now and that Paraag Marathe will not implicate any knee-jerk decisions. But they are aware that fans are growing frustrated.
