A 34-year-old man is due in court tomorrow charged with a number of offences after a man in his 50s was assaulted with an iron bar and grabbed around the neck in Co Armagh.

The incident occurred at around 7.10pm on Monday (November 24) in the Brookhill Crescent area of Armagh.

PSNI Sergeant Bigger said: “It’s understood the suspect entered the property and grabbed the victim round the neck – attempting to choke him.

“He continued to be aggressive and punched him – before picking up a metal bar and swinging it at him, striking him to his arm and hand.

“He left the scene and returned a short time later – throwing a plant pot through the window, and causing damage to the front door.

“Officers attended the scene and attempted to detain the suspect who resisted arrest, and was verbally abusive towards police.”
