A man whose wife won a £3m house in an Omaze lottery has been jailed for sexually abusing and secretly recording young girls.

In 2024 Anthony Doyle was pictured raising a bottle of champagne after his wife Rose scooped a luxury home in Cornwall as well as £100,000.

But then a year later the 67-year-old gas engineer was exposed as a paedophile when one of his three victims reported him to the police.

Today (Tuesday, November 25) Doyle, of Lockton Road, Stirchley was sentenced to six years and three months at Birmingham Crown Court, which heard his marriage is now in tatters amid divorce proceedings.

Police launched an investigation after one of the victims, aged 15, broke down in school and disclosed that Doyle had repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

When his phone was seized and analysed it was discovered he had not only secretly recorded her on multiple occasions but also another victim, who was 13 at the time.

It later transpired that there was a third victim who had been groped regularly by Doyle when aged as young as nine.

In a further incident, when she was a few years older, he kissed her on the lips using his tongue and touched her breasts.

The court was told of the devastating impact of Doyle’s attacks with the first known victim resorting to self harm and feeling suicidal.

The second, who was unaware she had been filmed until police informed her, stated she felt ’embarrassed and objectified’.

The third victim, whose abuse dates back more than ten years, said it had a ‘massive effect’ on her mental health, confidence and ability to trust men.

Judge Peter Carr said: “It’s hardly surprising your behaviour had the effect on your victims that it’s had.

“They may have to live with what you have done for a lot longer than this court is going to inflict on you with regards punishment.”

Doyle pleaded guilty to four charges of sexually assaulting a child under 13, two offences of sexual activity with a child, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two offences of voyeurism and one charge of making indecent images of children.

A previous sentencing hearing had to be adjourned after he cast doubt over his own confessions to a probation officer.

But today it was confirmed he stood by his guilty pleas.

Harinderpal Dhami, defending, said: “He wishes to apologise to the court, the complainants and their families for the anxiety caused by his offending and the protracted nature of the sentencing exercise.

“He wishes to allow those complainants and families to move on.”

The barrister told the court that he had ‘destroyed’ his marriage of 47 years and that ‘divorce proceedings have been instigated’.

Mr Dhami added: “He worked for a great number of years as a plumber and gas engineer.

“There is no explanation as to his offending. That will hopefully come with time.”

Birmingham Live had reported the Doyles’ joy at winning the five-bedroom home in the Cornish countryside as part of an Omaze Million Pound House Draw.

Rose, then aged 73 and a retired dinner lady and sales worker, described it as a ‘life-changing’ moment as she spoke of her hopes of hosting family holidays in the luxury property.

She also recalled how neighbours had come out to congratulate her and her husband, known as Tony for short.

Today, it was a different atmosphere at Birmingham Crown Court where around 20 people sat in the public gallery to watch the latter learn his fate.

Doyle, who clutched a book as a he stood in the dock, did not spare a glance towards them or offer any visible reaction as he was sent down.
