Earlier this month, road safety campaigners called for urgent action to prevent more carnage and deaths in Birmingham amid a fresh spate of crashes.

Regional road safety commissioner Mat MacDonald is backing a coalition of 16 organisations in the city pressing for ten changes to prevent more deaths.

The renewed call for action comes after an emotional service to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, organised by the charity Road Peace West Midlands and West Mercia, where families shared heartfelt tributes and joined in calling for action to prevent avoidable deaths and serious injuries.
