Drivers are facing delays of at least an hour after the M8 motorway was closed near Edinburgh Airport. The road is shut westbound between junctions two and three and delays.
Traffic Scotland said the closure is due to overrunning road works and advise motorists to plan ahead.Drivers are facing delays of 50 minutes in rush hour traffic.
The disruption is also affecting the M9 motorway at Newbridge which is heavily congested. A separate incident has also been reported on the M74, with lanes restricted.
Posting on X, Traffic Scotland said: “The M8 is currently CLOSE westbound between junctions 2-3 due to overrunning road works.
“This is causing delays for journeys this morning so please do plan ahead before you travel and use alternative routes.
“Eastbound is also heavily congested on the M8 onto the M9 due to this with delays of approx. 50 minutes.”
Traffic Scotland also report restrictions on the M74 this morning after a multi-vehicle road traffic collision
The incident happened at jct four soutbound and lanes two, three and four are currently restricted as of 8am.
