Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as the January transfer window nears. The Reds have been credited with an interest in the Ghana international for several weeks with the rumours beginning to ramp up ahead of the New Year.

Arne Slot’s side are going through a tough run of form with six defeats over their last seven Premier League matches.

That run has seen Liverpool drop to 12th place in the league table, which has led to increased speculation about the club potentially going into the market for new signings.

Various reports have claimed that Liverpool are expressing an interest in signing Semenyo in January. The forward is reported to have a release worth around £65 million in his contract with Bournemouth, with Manchester United also said to have an interest.

If Liverpool were to sign Semenyo, they would certainly have plenty of ideal squad numbers available to the versatile forward.

Semenyo’s current squad number at Bournemouth is No.24, which also happens to be available to new signings at Liverpool ahead of the January window.

Liverpool also have several other numbers available for Semenyo should they decide to sign the 25-year-old.

The Reds have No.19 available, which was vacated by Harvey Elliott in the summer, who joined Aston Villa on loan with an obligation to buy.

Semenyo wore the numbers 11 and 18 during his time at Bristol City earlier in his career. However, both numbers are currently taken by Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo, respectively.

Liverpool also have No.21, No.23, No.24, No.27 and No.29 all available to Semenyo this January, but it’s still unclear if the interest is genuine and if that will lead to a move in the New Year.

“We are in November, Antoine is our player, he will continue to be our player,” Cherries boss Andoni Iraola said last week.

“In January, you can ask me about the market. “But right now, I am not worried about the next market.

“I am not worried about the situation. “In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need.”
