West Ham United, who have been frequently criticised for not being forward thinking, surprised many supporters by recently announcing that they have become the first Premier League club to introduce its own end to end AI powered talent identification platform. The club have collaborated with Amazon Web Services and Crayon a Global IT consultancy specialising in cloud, AI and software solutions.

Spearheaded by Head of Technical Recruitment and Analysis, Maximilian Hahn, the tool has been created for exclusive use by West Ham and will transform and enhance the clubs ability to assess and identify players.

According to a statement by the club the platform will streamline scouting by combining physical, technical, and performance data into one unified system, enabling West Ham’s coaches and team of analysts to make evidence-based decisions when identifying future stars.

By adopting this platform, the club will hopefully position itself at the forefront of innovation, ensuring its academy and first team continue to attract and develop elite players.

The partnership between West Ham United, Crayon, and AWS is more than just a tech upgrade. Ultimately it’s a strategic investment in the future of football. By merging tradition with innovation, West Ham is hoping that its “Academy of Football” legacy thrives in the age of artificial intelligence.

Hopefully, the days of botched recruitment will be a thing of the past, and under Maximilian and his team they are ready to light up the transfer market in January!
