Heavy rain is set to batter Bristol and the rest of the South West as a weather warning is in effect for tomorrow (Saturday, November 29).

The weather warning will be in effect from 6am, lasting until the end of the day.

The 18-hour warning is for heavy rain, which the Met Office says will start to develop tonight across the South West before spreading across the breadth of England.

The weather warning includes the whole of the South West as well as part of Wales, Yorkshire, London and the East Midlands.

The Met Office said that there is potential for up to 60-80mm of rain to fall tomorrow in high ground.

There may also be strong winds which will bring havoc alongside the rainfall.

The Met Office said: “Rain, heavy at times, is expected to develop across southwest England on Friday night and spread northeastward during Saturday before clearing into the North Sea on Saturday night.

“There is uncertainty in the corridor of heaviest rainfall across England and Wales, but there is potential for 20-30 mm to fall fairly widely with 50 mm possible in places.

“Over high ground, there is a low chance of 60-80 mm falling.

“Strong winds may accompany this heavy rain, particularly across eastern parts of England on Saturday night.”

The weather agency warned that journey times will be made longer by spray and flooding with transport services being disrupted, and some communities could become cut off by flooded roads.

There may be flooding of some homes and businesses and there is a chance of power cuts.

The rainfall map shows periods of heavy rain to fall over Bristol, particularly between 5am and 7.30am in the morning.

The weather forecast for the South West tomorrow said: “Outbreaks of heavy rain through the morning followed by sunshine and showers during the afternoon.
