Reasons your Universal Credit may be cut by DWP
There are two bank holidays next month and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed changes to scheduled payments for people due money on the first of those, on Monday, May 5. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have also confirmed a revised timetable for people due benefit payments on that date.
Payments due on Monday, May 5 will arrive before this weekend, on Friday, May 2. The changes will affect people in receipt of the State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit, Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Attendance Allowance and other benefits.
DWP confirmed Jobcentres, offices and phone lines will be closed on Monday, May 2, but will open as usual from Tuesday, May 6.

DWP said: “On Monday 5 May offices and phone lines are closed. To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early.
“If the expected payment date is Monday 5 May then benefits will be paid early on Friday 2 May.”
The next bank holiday on Monday, May 26 will also see some payments due on that date issued earlier, on Friday May 23.
HMRC and Social Security Scotland have confirmed that Child Benefit and devolved payments due on that date will be made earlier – DWP is expected to confirm similar changes nearer the time as the May Spring bank holiday is recognised across Great Britain.
