A Met Office spokesperson said: “Rain, heavy at times, is expected to develop across southwest England on Friday night and spread north-eastward during Saturday before clearing into the North Sea.
“Strong winds may accompany this heavy rain, particularly across eastern parts of England on Saturday night.”
It is possible that 50mm of rain could fall in some places.
Disruption includes the chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses, and the risk of damage to some buildings caused by flooding.
There is the possibility that smaller communities could become cut off by flooded roads, and travel on bus and rail could also be disrupted.
Spray and flooding on roads could make journey times longer.
