Kelepi Tanginoa has left Hull KR.
Hull KR have confirmed the early release of forward Kelepi Tanginoa with immediate effect to take up an opportunity with a Super League rival for 2026 and beyond.
The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Sewell Group Craven Park after arriving from Wakefield Trinity, going on to make 59 appearances for the Robins, scoring 16 tries.
As reported by the Warrington Guardian last week, he is set to join Sam Burgess’ Warrington Wolves for the 2026 season and become the club’s seventh new addition at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Tanginoa had a year remaining on his contract at Rovers, but has been granted an early release to secure a longer-team deal. He played a key role in Hull KR ’s treble-winning campaign with 29 appearances, including from the bench in the Challenge Cup Final triumph over Warrington.
Explaining the decision to release the back-rower early, head coach Willie Peters said: “Kelepi is one of the best human beings I’ve come across in rugby league. Kelepi has strong values and morals and is a devoted family man.
“Kelepi came to see me about an opportunity for a longer-term contract with another Super League club to support his family in the latter stages of his career.
“We didn’t want to see Kelepi leave but certainly didn’t want to stand in his way and we have granted his release to take up this new opportunity. I’d like to thank Kelepi, Evelyn and their children for the past two seasons, we wish them all the best for the future.”
Tanginoa’s final outing of the season came during the Super League Round 25 win over Hull FC, with Rhyse Martin preferred for the run-in that culminated in Grand Final glory at Old Trafford.
Paying tribute to his time at Hull KR, Tanginoa said: “The last two seasons as a Robin have been so memorable, rewarding and something I’ll cherish forever.
“I’ve loved every bit of it. Thank you to Willie Peters, all the staff, the board and to all the boys and the amazing East Hull fans.”
