Leeds have some targets in mind as we approach the winter transfer window.

The 49ers are looking to improve the squad after Leeds slipped to 18th in the Premier League, with Troy Parrott a target due to his stunning efforts for AZ Alkmaar and the Republic of Ireland this season.

Harry Wilson is another player who remains of interest to Leeds after the 49ers failed to sign him on transfer deadline day in September – and Ethan Ampadu has now mentioned his fellow Wales international.

Ethan Ampadu says Harry Wilson has a better finesse shot than anybody at Leeds United

The Premier League asked the Leeds No.4 to take part in a game of word association – in which he needed to name a teammate for club or country who is best at a range of skills put to him.

Ampadu named Anton Stach as the best crosser at either Leeds or Wales, for example.

When asked to say who has the best finesse shot of any of his teammates, the Leeds captain said “Harry Wilson” without any hesitation whatsoever.

The Fulham No.8 has made a habit of whipping the ball beyond goalkeepers into the top corner over the years, hence why Leeds were ready to spend a “large” chunk of cash to sign him during the summer – as The Times reported at the time.

Leeds United need a Harry Wilson alternative heading into January

Leeds remain keen on Wilson as we near the winter transfer window, but the signs are not entirely positive.

The 28-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season, but is keen to stay at Fulham.

For whatever reason – however – a new deal is yet to be signed.

Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?

This personal stance makes Leeds unlikely to sign Wilson at the moment – according to Sky Sports – so the 49ers need to ensure a backup option is ready to be targeted.

If the Welshman is still yet to pen a contract extension at Craven Cottage heading into January – however – it could make for an interesting situation at Leeds.
