A man has died after the car he was travelling in crashed in Wallasey. Harry Murphy, 72, was the front seat passenger in a silver Toyota Yaris when the vehicle collided with a silver Ford Focus at around 11.30am on Wednesday, October 29.

The incident occurred on the A554, Bidston Link Road, in Wallasey. Mr Murphy, from Seacombe, was taken to hospital, where he remained until his death on Wednesday, November 26.

His sister has today paid tribute to him, saying: “Harry was a loving son and brother and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.”

Merseyside Police has now appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, lead investigating officer from the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with Harry’s family.

“They are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. It is our priority to get answers for them and I appeal to the public to help us do that by contacting us if they have information which may assist the investigation.

“I believe there were numerous other motorists who were driving past on both sides of the dual carriageway at the time who could have vital information to help our ongoing enquiries. If you saw the collision or anything else that you feel we need to be aware of, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, or email SCIU@merseyside.police.uk quoting reference number 25000886775. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
