Two men are facing jail after a man was shot as he sat in a car in Wolverhampton.

Armed officers were called after a car hit another vehicle in Westbourne Road at around 6.30pm on 18 December, last year.

Officers found the driver, who was in in his 30s, had suffered a gunshot wound to the top of his leg and he was taken for hospital treatment.

The Major Crime Unit found that earlier two other men had arrived in a nearby alleyway with one of them then getting into the victim’s car when it was parked outside a shop.

A shot was fired and the man left. The victim drove a short distance and hit another vehicle, before police were called.

Following further enquiries the team traced the two men and arrested Edwards on 13 January and Hoxha, on 21 January.

Hoxha, of no fixed address, had previously pleaded guilty to the same charges in October. They’ve been remanded in custody for sentencing on 30 January.

Det Insp Francis Nock from our Major Crime Unit, said: “These two men are now behind bars, and rightly so.

“Gun violence like this is wholly unacceptable and with the weapon being fired at their victim at such close range and in a confined space, the intent was clearly to do him real harm.

“Thankfully he has been able to make a recovery and both offenders have admitted being involved in the shooting which could so easily have proved even more serious.”
