JoJo Siwa has given fans an update on her health after being rushed to hospital in ‘excruciating pain’ just hours before her latest performance on Friday.
The Dance Moms star, 22, took to TikTok and revealed she was left ‘unable to breathe’ and ‘almost blacking out’ before doctors discovered a cyst on her ovary had burst. In a detailed post on Saturday, JoJo recalled the intense pain that required her mum’s assistance to get dressed before emergency services whisked her off to hospital.
“We said [to doctors] look, obviously if something is like we, we need emergency surgery wrong or something like, obviously there are other options, but there are a lot of people at the Mall Of America waiting and counting on this performance”.

JoJo continued to share how she was soon ‘dancing in her hospital bed’ thanks to the pain relief, before an ultrasound revealed the burst cyst was bleeding into her stomach.
After medical professionals assured the dancer the situation should resolve itself, she bravely carried on with her planned performance at a Minnesota mall. JoJo expressed gratitude towards her fans for their support, admitting she was ‘not 100%’ and would need to return to the hospital if the pain persisted.
She captioned the post: “Thank you for all the well wishes, grateful for the Doctors and Nurses for working so fast and helping me get back on time, keep it pushing”.
An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on a woman’s ovary. They’re very common and don’t usually cause any symptoms.
Most ovarian cysts are naturally occurring and disappearing within a few months without requiring any treatment. JoJo shared clips of her lively performance following her hospital stay. She belted out a series of hits including her new festive single, a cover of Message To The World (Little Drummer Girl).
Just last week, JoJo revealed she was taking a significant step in her relationship with Chris Hughes. She took to Instagram to announce they would be spending Christmas together.
In their festive pyjamas, the Dance Moms star posted loved-up photos, gazing affectionately at the Love Island star, 32, as she explained her plans to travel to the UK for December 25. She will celebrate Christmas with her family in America a week early before jetting off overseas.
Updating her followers, she wrote: “My favourite season. I’ve spent the last three days prepping and getting ready for the holidays, and it’s been LOVELY. It might seem early however, today I start rehearsals for my Black Friday performance at Mall of America and then I go to a couple of dance studios for meet and greet/classes and then it’s my mum’s birthday and then we celebrate Christmas with my family a week early, so I can travel to England for Christmas!… long story, short, it’s Christmas now:)”.
JoJo sparked an unexpected romance with Chris after they met on Celebrity Big Brother UK earlier this year. And as things moved from friendship to romance, their relationship has only grown stronger, with Chris being warmly welcomed into JoJo’s life.
During her recent tour, JoJo Siwa referred to boyfriend Chris’ parents as her ‘future in-laws’, after they attended her concert in Birmingham. She addressed the crowd, mentioning she had some ‘guests of honour’ at the show.

Chris, who surprised JoJo with flowers backstage, was seen sitting with his parents Val and Paul and brother Ben, along with JoJo’s parents Tom and Jessalynn. Footage from the concert showed JoJo acknowledging Chris’ parents, joking that she would be on her ‘best behaviour’.
She said: “Val give us your best wave from up there, do you have a good wave? In case that anybody doesn’t know, that’s the person who gave birth to my favourite person in the world. That’s the mother of the boy that makes me really happy. I’m very delighted to have the guests of honour tonight, Val and Paul Hughes everyone.”
“It’s going to be a good show, I am on my best behaviour this show,” JoJo added, which was met with boos from the crowd. JoJo responded: “Guys! My future mother and father in law are in the room. I can’t full on freak too hard tonight.”
Before the concert, Chris surprised JoJo backstage with a bouquet of flowers, admitting he made the impromptu decision to come to the show as he wasn’t going to see her ‘for a little while.’
