Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot played an important role in the team’s win over Crystal Palace.

Ruben Amorim recalled Diogo Dalot to the Manchester United starting line-up to face Crystal Palace, dropping Patrick Dorgu.

Amorim had expressed concerns with Dorgu’s form ahead of the game, and brought Dalot in to start at the left wing-back position.

Manchester United won the game 2-1 after a second half fightback, with Dalot winning the free-kick for the Red Devils’ winning goal.

For Dalot, collecting all three points was the ideal way to celebrate a personal milestone for Manchester United.

Diogo Dalot was making his 150th Premier League appearance for Manchester United, following his transfer to the club from Porto in 2018.

It is an impressive feat, especially considering that Dalot spent one season on loan at AC Milan.

Dalot is the third highest Portuguese appearance maker for Manchester United in the Premier League, with former star Nani falling just short of the 150 mark.

Dalot commented: “I’m very happy to reach this beautiful milestone in the biggest league in the world.

“My journey has been one of constant growth as both a man and a player, and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, knowing that I’m only 26 and still have so much more to accomplish in my career.

“I’m enjoying every moment.”

In all competitions Dalot has 222 appearances for Manchester United, which is just short of Nani’s total of 230, which he will shortly overtake.

Dalot kept on battling for United

Diogo Dalot was one of the two Manchester United players who won the most duels during his display – with eight in total.

These included four out of four aerial duels he contested, and he was praised post-game by Ruben Amorim for his efforts.

Amorim said: “If you have certain characteristics, the pace, you can go right or left because you also can play with your left.

“You need to use that in every single game in [the] Premier League and not just one game.”

Dalot is likely to retain his place for when Manchester United host West Ham in the Premier League on December 4.
