The French president has told the media that Russia has shown no sign of ending aggression.
Macron added that only Ukraine can decide on its territories when it comes to possible compromises in peace talks led by the US.
He said Europeans and Ukraine’s allies must be around the negotiating table to ensure security guarantees, and there should be better clarity on Russia’s willingness to move forward after talks with Washington this week.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy stated that security guarantees are a priority for Ukraine, as well as maintaining sovereignty.
Ukraine’s president added that he hopes to speak to Donald Trump after Steve Witkoff’s visit to Russia this week.
He also said Russia should get no reward for its war in Ukraine, and insisted that Moscow’s reported advances on the frontline are exaggerated.
