The draw for the 2026 World Cup takes place on Friday in Washington

Scotland will participate in their first World Cup for 28 years after they sealed qualification for next summer’s extravaganza on an unforgettable night of drama at Hampden last month.

And now all eyes turn to Friday and the Finals draw in Washington for what will be the biggest EVER World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.

But for those who can’t bear to wait, Record Sport has come up with a brilliant simulator which allows YOU to conduct your very own draw.

Mexico for the opening game in the iconic Azteca Stadium? Brazil in Boston? The Auld Enemy in New York? Or how about Messi in Miami?

With 48 teams taking part – up from 32 – there are so many possibilities, including minnows such as Cape Verde and the tiny Caribbean island of Curacao who became the smallest ever nation to reach the World Cup under former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat.

When Scotland last featured in the World Cup at France ’98 they landed a glamour opening game against defending champions Brazil in Paris with Norway and Morocco also in their section.

Unfortunately it was a familiar early exit but the Tartan Army are dreaming of bigger things this time with thousands set to follow the national team across the Big Pond.

Do you have a feeling who Scotland – who are in Pot 3 – will face this time around? Play along with our simulator and see if you’re right!
