Two men have been taken into custody in France and charged for allegedly burgling the Paris home of ex-president François Hollande, prosecutors in the capital said on Monday.
The two suspects, both in their early 30s and both born in Algeria, were charged and placed in detention last Friday, the prosecutor’s office said, confirming a report by the BFMTV news television network.
They were believed to have carried out a burglary on November 22nd at Hollande’s home in eastern Paris, which he shares with his partner Julie Gayet, who is an actor and producer.
A source close to Hollande said police had reacted swiftly to the burglary, limiting the consequences for the former leader and his companion.
