The international cricket community is in mourning following the news of the passing of former England batter Robin Smith.

Smith, aged 62, was a vital figure in England’s Test team between 1988 and 1996.

Having made his debut against West Indies in 1988, the right-handed batter went on to amass 4236 runs off 62 Test appearances, averaging an impressive 43.67.

This included nine centuries, three of which came against the Windies, including his highest-ever Test score of 175. In addition, he also played 71 ODIs for England, returning with 2419 runs.
