Berhampur: Students of the ayurvedic and homeopathic medical college and hospitals here on Monday sent their white coats to health and family welfare minister Mukesh Mahaling via speed post, intensifying their agitation over fulfilment of their eight-point charter of demands, which began on Nov 6.”We will not wear the white coats till the govt fulfils our demands,” said Ayushman Mishra, member of the All Odisha Ayush Students’ Association. Their demands include providing dynamic stipend at par with MBBS students, creation of Ayush posts and increase in post-graduate seats in ayurvedic and homeopathic colleges.Student leaders claimed the govt did not appoint any Ayush officer in the last 25 years. While around 350-400 UG students pass every year, there were only a few seats in PG courses. A senior officer said the govt would take a decision soon on their demands.
