Whilst we look forward to Christmas, some great TV is here to keep us entertained. What with the likes of BBC’s Shetland, the finale of Stranger Things and so much more coming thick and fast, the festive period can be a tad overwhelming, but the New Year is set to bring another epic Harlan Coben series.
With the success of previous collaborations between the author, Netflix and our very own Quay Street Productions, the excitement for the New Year 2026 release of Run Away is so real. Filming for Run Away began in Manchester and around the North West in January, and now we have the very first trailer of the production – you don’t even have to trust us that it looks incredible…

What is Run Away about?
Starring James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, and Alfred Enoch, Run Away follows the success of Coben’s Netflix hits Missing You earlier this year, and Fool Me Once, which were both also filmed mostly around Greater Manchester – and if those productions are anything to go off, we’ve got another huge success on our hands.

Earlier this year, all of the stars were spotted filming in Stockport, alongside the city centre, with Ruth Jones getting into a 1980s Volkswagen Polo, just outside of the central Egerton Arms. There were also some prominent scenes filmed in popular brunch spot Evelyn’s in the Northern Quarter.
Filming was also spotted in areas including Dukinfield, Saddleworth Moor and several locations in Liverpool, so keep your eyes peeled for any familiar sights when you can finally binge it.
When does Run Away come out on Netflix?
Run Away is set to be the big New Year’s Day release on January 1st, 2026… something to look forward to when you’re horribly hungover, surrounded by cold pizza and Lucozade.
