Wilfried Nancy is finally on his way to Glasgow, it is being reported.
It has been multiple weeks since the Frenchman became the frontrunner for the Parkhead hotseat, and Martin O’Neill has remained in interim charge for longer than expected amid a big hold-up.
Thankfully, this hasn’t at all been a bad thing, with O’Neill winning six of his seven matches since replacing Brendan Rodgers.
O’Neill confirmed that Wednesday’s match would be his last in his pre-match press conference, and it now looks like Nancy’s appointment will be confirmed before kick-off.
This is per a report in the Daily Record, which says that Nancy will touch down in Scotland on Tuesday night.
Wilfried Nancy finally set for Celtic unveiling
Nancy has reportedly been hard at work at Celtic, in the expectation that his appointment would be confirmed.
The process has dragged on, leaving the Hoops with a dilemma amid calls from the support for O’Neill to be given until the Premier Sports Cup final, or even until the new year.

But clearly, the club’s intention is to get Nancy in the door as soon as possible, regardless of circumstances.
The report says that Nancy could be in the stands for the Dundee match, giving him an opportunity to take in the atmosphere before his first home match on Sunday.
The appointment was delayed by ‘red tape’ as club officials got about finalising the paperwork, leaving O’Neill in charge for longer than he expected.
But the 73-year-old Parkhead icon will get a well-deserved send-off on Wednesday evening, as he takes charge of what will likely be his final match in charge of Celtic.
After that, it’s full steam ahead for Nancy, ahead of a crucial top-of-the-table six-pointer against Hearts.
There’s an irony in the Hoops’ previous match against Hearts being Rodgers’ last, before the reverse fixture being Nancy’s first.
But talk of Honda Civics is now firmly behind us, as the Celts gear up for a new era.
