Police have locked down a road in Edinburgh after crash involving two HGV lorries and a bus.

Officers were alerted to the incident on Maybury Road in Edinburgh at around 8:15am on Tuesday, December 2.

It is unclear at this stage of there were any injuries as a result of the incident.

The road has been closed in both directions and locals are urged to avoid the area.

An Eden Farm lorry is reported to have collided with the back of the bus, causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle, and smash head-on with a Cancer Research lorry that was carrying used clothes.

Images from the scene show all three vehicles were badly damaged in the crash, which happened right beside a bus stop on the road.

One shows the front of one of the lorries with its windscreen completely shattered and the bumper of the vehicle hanging off as it sits on the pavement at the side of the road.

The rear of the Lothian Bus was badly damaged. A lorry clipped the back of a bus and wend head on into another lorry on the Maybury road Edinburgh.

Another captures the damage to the bus, with a huge dent at the back of the vehicle.

A third picture shows both lorries, with debris scattered across the road, as a police car sits stationary at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Maybury Road in Edinburgh is currently closed in both directions following a crash which was reported around 8.15am on Tuesday, 2 December, 2025.

“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area at this time.”

A spokesperson for Lothian Buses said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Maybury Road and are instead diverted via Glasgow Road, Drum Brae and Queensferry Road in both directions until further notice.”
