The doors of a house have been damaged after a burglary in Newry on Monday evening.

Police said the incident happened in the St Clare’s Avenue area.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Lewis said: “On Tuesday, December 2, it was reported that sometime over the evening of Monday, December 1, entry had been forced to a house in the St Clare’s Avenue area. Damage was caused to both the front and rear doors.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and our enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of this burglary, and items of property that may have been taken.

“The occupant was not home at the time, but understandably, has been left shaken by the intrusion.

“Anyone who may have noticed anyone suspicious in the area, or who may have CCTV or other footage, is asked to contact us on 101 quoting reference 775 of 2/12/25.”
