EastEnders star Molly Rainford has teased that Anna Knight may not be gone from Albert Square forever after her exit scenes aired this week. The actor has been part of the BBC One soap since 2023 when she and her family arrived in Walford, but her character and Bobby Brazier’s Freddie Slater left to go to Australia.
Following the airing of her departure, Rainford took to Instagram to reflect on her exit and and teased that she may one day be back.
Alongside a whole host of photos and videos of the cast hanging out around the set and having fun at some glamorous events, she wrote a cute caption about her time in EastEnders and Anna’s future.
“Your girl Anna Knight is off to AU,” she said. “I can’t put into words just how wonderful the last few years at @bbceastenders has been.
“Anna’s laughed, cried, worked and lived in the Vic (still surreal), been in a love triangle, been spiked, got pregnant, had tough conversations about Race and her mum came back from the dead. No wonder she needs a break from Walford.”

“It really is a family,” she continued, “the cast and crew are truly special. I’m gonna miss working alongside them everyday. Especially the lovely Knights, Beales and Peacock/Carters. Couldn’t have asked for better people to learn from and laugh with day in and day out.
“I want to thank everyone so much for all the love and support, it means the absolute world. I have so many lovely memories from Albert Square, here’s a handful of the highlights.
“And let’s be honest, no one goes travelling forever.”

Just to drive home that she’d definitely be up for a return, the final sentence of her caption was accompanied by a winking emoji.
Could there be plans in the works for Anna to return already? Possibly heartbroken by breaking up with Freddie?
Outside of EastEnders, Rainford competed in this year’s season of Celebrity Race Across the World, and had previously competed in Britain’s Got Talent, released music, and fronted two shows for CBBC.
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
