Sheffield United welcome Mark Robins’ high-flying Stoke City to Bramall Lane on Saturday, as the Blades look to continue their ascent away from the drop zone.

Chris Wilder’s side have moved up into 19th place of the Championship table after Sheffield United beat Leicester City 3-2 in their last outing, with the South Yorkshire side having now won their last three.

The Potters meanwhile have hit a little bump in the road. Last time out, Stoke City lost 1-0 against Hull City, having lost three of their last four in the league.

Last season, Sheffield United beat Stoke City with ease on both occasions, winning both games 2-0. The Potters last beat United in 2022 but last win at Bramall Lane was way back in 2007.

Here, The72 writers give their score predictions for the game…

Luke Phelps

“I’m expecting Sheffield United to quickly move up the standings. They’re looking as though they’re really getting up to speed now and they go into this game bang in for, whereas Stoke City are looking a little bit shaky.

“On home soil, I’m expecting the Blades to be the favourites. But Stoke under Robins remain a force to be reckoned with and I think both teams will at least score here, although I’m thinking a draw would be a good result for both sides.

“I’ll say 1-1.”

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 Stoke City

James Ray

“Three straight wins have seen Sheffield United find some much-needed form. You can see that confidence is coming back after a dismal start and it could set them up for a big second half of the season.

Stoke City will not be an easy opponent though. They might have lost three of their last four but the Potters remain in a strong position coming into the clash with SUFC.

“I think we’ll get a close and competitive game. Don’t count out the Blades, but I just get the feeling the Potters might grind out a good result.”

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 Stoke City
