Manchester United star Amad has sent a wordless message on social media as he nears a return from injury.
The winger suffered an ankle injury during a training session in February, which Reds head coach Ruben Amorim believed at the time may keep him out for the rest of the season. The news came as another significant setback for United in an already challenging season and at the time of his injury, the forward was United’s joint-second-highest scorer, netting nine goals.
Amad was a regular feature in every Premier League match under Amorim until his enforced absence in February. It represented a stark contrast from his experience under former manager Erik ten Hag, who often left the 22-year-old on the bench.
And in a boost to Amorim’s men, Amad has returned to individual training, but is not yet among the main first-team group, so was not involved in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
Nevertheless, there is now optimism that he will return to action in May. Amad has since teased that he is close to being ready after posting a picture on his Instagram stories of him in action at Old Trafford.
Amad has hinted at an imminent return from injury for Manchester United
The former Sunderland loanee has made excellent progress with his recovery and is set to return before the curtain comes down on the campaign, so much so that Sunday’s trip to Brentford could mark his return.
Amad had blossomed as both a right wing-back and as a No.10 prior to his injury, meaning his absence has left United without a highly versatile figure in the last few months. He quickly got to grips with Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system and looked particularly accomplished at right wing-back.
