I’m A Celebrity fans said ‘bless him’ as the ‘absolute legend’ Martin Kemp was eliminated from the ITV reality show after 20 days in the Australian jungle.

Former EastEnders actor Martin became the sixth star to be voted off the reality show, with former football player Alex Scott, comedian Eddie Kadi, Irish TV presenter Vogue Williams. Loose Women star Kelly Brook and American talk show presenter Ruby Wax already being sent home.

The Spandau Ballet bassist was seen taking part in his first Bushtucker Trial of the series earlier on Thursday night (December 4). Prior to this, Martin had only taken part in the live trial, the first one in five years, where he had to drink a vile milkshake.

Joined by Celeb Go Dating’s Tom Read Wilson, Martin met Ant and Dec to take on ‘Lethal Libraries’. It was Martin’s job to man the library reception desk where he’d be shown a series of cryptic clues as to which books in the library the stars were hidden in.

Once Martin worked out the title of each clue, he had to shout it through to Tom whose role it was to try and find it. After finding the book, Tom had to post it back through to reception for Martin to check if it contained a star and to put it in his star bag.

They had ten minutes to find seven stars, with each one representing a meal for camp. In a surprising new double act for fans to obsess over, Martin and Tom exchanged in hilarious back and forth banter.

Winning five out of the seven trials on offer, Martin and Tom later learned that they won Squab for their dinner. With Angry Ginge on cooking duties, Martin was delighted with how the meal turned out.

Sadly, just moments after these scenes aired, Ant and Dec made their way into camp to reveal who was going out next. While Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley was told ‘it might be you’ for the second night in a row, it was Martin who was sent home.

He told Ant and Dec: “I have dreamt about this moment. It’s just a weird trip. I have enjoyed the other people, sitting around talking. I am not one for making new friends but I have loved it.”

Martin added: “I feel like I’ve done everything I wanted to do, experienced it, and I can walk away with some brilliant anecdotes… I always felt like I was a bit on the outside, a bit calmer than everyone else.”

Those watching the episode at home rushed to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their sadness at Martin’s time in Australia coming to an end just days before the final.
