A woman was slashed while walking along a street in the early hours of Thursday morning. Merseyside Police received a report at around 1am on December 4 that a man and woman had assaulted a woman in her 30s on Clanfield Road, Croxteth. Officers said the man was armed with a knife and that both offenders fled the scene.
The victim suffered a laceration to her head and hand, as well as bruising to her ribs and face. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police carried out a search of the area and arrested a man and a woman shortly afterwards.
Anthony Gaskell, 46, of Haydn Road in Dovecot, has been charged with possession of a knife blade in a public place, and with Section 18 assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, December 5, and was remanded into custody following a recall to prison for breaching licence conditions.
Leanne Scott, 39, also of Haydn Road, has been charged with Section 18 assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a class B drug (cannabis). She also appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded into custody.
Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “Domestic abuse can happen to anyone and we have specially trained officers who will listen to you and support you with sensitivity and compassion.
“I would also ask everyone to look out for your family members, friends or neighbours that may be suffering, as by contacting us you could be helping someone who is too afraid to help themselves.
“Everything you tell us is taken extremely seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.”
