Philippe Clement has been branded as ‘arrogant’ by a former Premiership manager who briefly faced off against him during his time at Rangers.

Neil Warnock had an ill-fated 33-day spell in charge of Aberdeen between February and March 2024, winning just two of his eight matches, none of which came in the league. The veteran English coach’s first game in the job came against Clement’s Gers in a midweek clash at Ibrox, having replaced Barry Robson at Pittodrie a few days earlier.

The hosts took an early lead through Rabbi Matondo before future Rangers striker Bojan Miovski levelled things up for Aberdeen. However, it was Rangers who came away with all three points thanks to Todd Cantwell’s winner 18 minutes before the end in the second half.

Belgian boss Clement had got his hands on silverware earlier in the season when they defeated the Reds in the Premier Sports Cup final. But it proved to be his only triumph in Glasgow, with Rangers chiefs finally giving him the sack in February of this year after the ex Monaco and Club Brugge gaffer completely lost the support of the Light Blues fanbase.

He made his dugout return last month when he was appointed as Liam Manning’s successor at Carrow Road. And speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of Hull’s clash with Middlesbrough on Friday night, Warnock, 77, was less than impressed with Clement’s attitude during his doomed spell in the Granite City.

He said: “I’ll be interested to see about this guy, Clement. When I went up to Aberdeen for my short spell, he was at Rangers.

“I thought he was a little bit arrogant when we played them.

“I was surprised to see that Norwich had took him on board but it will be interesting to see if he can get Norwich (going).

“They have lost every game at home but got a food result the other day. It will be interesting to see what happen, it’s a fabulous club with fabulous fans.
