Liverpool are set to face Leeds United as the Reds look to improve their Premier League form. Arne Slot’s side face Leeds this evening (5.30pm) and will hope to earn a much-needed victory.

The reigning Premier League champions recorded an encouraging away win at West Ham last weekend before drawing with Sunderland in midweek. Despite pushing for another three points, it was Sunderland who came closest to snatching a victory on Wednesday, with Wilson Isidor almost scoring a late winner for the visitors.

Liverpool have put a stop to their losing run, but the team are not yet full of confidence. Leeds will hope to take advantage and build on their impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea, which lifted Daniel Farke’s side out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, plenty of attention will be paid to whether Slot chooses to start Mohamed Salah after naming him on the bench for the club’s last two games. Here, Mirror Football looks at some of the headlines surrounding Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah situation emerges

Mohamed Salah has reportedly become a target for several Saudi Arabian clubs ahead of the January transfer window. The forward has not started Liverpool’s last two league games and there is said to be confidence that the Egypt international could be convinced to leave Anfield.

The i Paper has stated that several Saudi clubs are willing to submit a fresh bid for Salah, following previous interest from the league in the Liverpool star. However, it is said that while funds could be made available, any offer will not be close to Al-Ittihad’s £200million bid, which was rejected in 2023.

A source told the outlet: “Several senior figures at PIF (Saudi’s Public Investment Fund) and within the Pro League believe the power lies with them.

“Mo’s form, unhappiness about not being in the team, Liverpool’s need to change something and the fact they have too many strikers all help push him to the Middle East.”

Arne Slot has addressed Alexander Isak’s lack of goals since his high-profile move from Newcastle United. The Liverpool boss dismissed concerns over the striker’s lack of touches but conceded that his team are not getting the best out of the forward, who scored his first league goal against West Ham last weekend.

“I think he is not the only one, the only number nine that suffers in some games from not getting as many chances,” Slot said. “I watched the second half of Leeds against City and I watched the whole game against Chelsea and it is not like, at this level, the No.9 is involved in eight, nine, 10 chances every single half. But it is obvious and clear to me we, as a team, want to bring him more often into threatening situations.”

He added: “It is more important for them to touch the ball in the right time than to touch it so many times. We have to make sure, because this is a complete difference between Haaland and Alex, that Haaland touches it a lot more in moments where it matters. There we have to improve, that’s clear and obvious. We and he as well.”
