It’s set to be a rainy weekend in Greater Manchester with downpours forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.

According to the Met Office, rain is forecast for much of today in our region. A mix of light and heavy showers are expected through the morning and into the afternoon.

The rain is not expected to stop until around 10pm. Temperatures are set to reach a high of around 11C today in Greater Manchester.

After a dry and cloudy start to Sunday morning, more rain showers are then expected through tomorrow afternoon. Some downpours could be heavy, according to Met Office forecasters.

It feel slightly warmer on Sunday with temperatures reaching a high of around 14C. Brighter and sunnier conditions are forecast for Monday in our region.

On the overall outlook for the North West for Saturday, the Met Office said: “A widely cloudy and damp start, with frequent showers feeding in from the west through much of the day, these often heavy and accompanied by gusty winds.

“Some brighter and drier breaks possible through the afternoon. Milder than previous days. Maximum temperature 11C.”

The outlook for the North West for Sunday states: “Turning increasingly cloudy from the south through the morning as a band of rain pushes northeastwards, bringing heavy and prolonged downpours.

“Often breezy in coastal regions and over high ground. Maximum temperature 11C.”
