Bristol Rovers’ FA Cup second round tie at Port Vale will go ahead after the Vale Park pitch passed an inspection this morning.

Following heavy overnight rain, and with more forecast, match officials undertook a pitch inspection on Saturday morning. But at 10.45am it was announced that it had successfully passed.

At 9.15am, both clubs said: “Due to heavy rain that has fallen overnight and continues to fall, there will be an inspection of the playing surface at 10:45am. We will let supporters know the outcome of the inspection as soon as possible.”

But shortly after that inspection, it was confirmed the game is on. Both clubs said: “We’re pleased to report that the Vale Park pitch has been deemed playable after passing this morning’s inspection. The Port Vale pitch will continue to be monitored as normal, with further rain forecast throughout the day.”

The FA Cup second round tie is set to kick-off at 3pm. You will be able to follow the action in our live blog
